How we need to prepare

Christmas Gifts

It’s coming to that time of year. The time when we look at Xmas gifts and although many people, mainly women, have everything already bought, wrapped and stored in a box while people like me have not even looked at it yet.

So I was thinking that perhaps now we should consider something for existing preppers and something for preppers to be.

Preppers are going to be difficult. After all what do you get the person that wants everything and already has a significant amount of what he needs. You don’t even really know what is in there and what is not. However, there are always some items that you can find that would suit them. The defaults are torches, multi tools and small pocket tool kits everyone loves them. I tend towards non perishables myself because they are always something that can be put aside for later but only once it was explained to me that I am a gormless git and should actually give preppers perishables. A treat they can have now that they can enjoy. So nothing towards prepping, unless you can afford an AK47 or something significant, but something they can eat, enjoy and remembers as a Xmas treat. You can have the option of strange meats, they would not ordinarily try or sweets made from Acorns or something.

Non preppers are slightly different. My view is that if it is someone you want to convert to prepping then consider getting them a story book or film on survival, say Ray Mears if they are into camping and something like Patriots, Jericho or the Book of Eli for those that don’t. Follow up with pigeon pie or something to make them try new tastes. You can then use this as a discussion point in the future.

Anyone else gets perfume, a woolly jumper, socks or a box of chocolates.

I’m not giving much for Xmas this year so I’ll be concentrating on close family. All of whom know what I am doing. So the decisions won’t be difficult this year. Plus my daughter gives me good advice. Much easier.

I’m asking for thermal underwear. It goes under folks’ radar – knowing about my prepping- as they just think its because I’m an old fogey!!
