How we need to prepare

Herbal Training at NW Meet

Another interesting meet.

Started with TimeLord talking about Shotguns and that advantages of the smaller gauges, 20G or .410. The advantages of reloading your own shotgun shells in those gauges and why your should consider these options.

Then we went on to Ken Eames for his Herbal course.

First we made a few Tinctures. Passion Flower, Aniseed and Elecampane. Basically took the raw ingredients and weighed them. Put in an old jam jar with a proportional amount of Vodka and that was it. Need to shake daily for at least two weeks before it is ready. Best left for a couple of months unless you need it desperately. You then remove it, squeeze the liquid out of the material and store in a bottle. We made some samples for experience.

Next up were ointments. Same principle an ingredient, Beeswax in an oil Arnica. Heat up some water until boiling. Turn off the heat. Then add the mix into a porringer to melt the beeswax. When complete remove from the water and stir until it starts to congeal and pour into ointment jars.

Finally we did some pills. Not the party variety but Kelp which we put in some gelatine capsules. Handy for thyroid and minerals. Again we made some up, using the pill making machine it was really easy.

Don’t forget to label everything up after you have made it and it is ready for use, tinctures in a few weeks.

After cleaning and tidying up we then had a session with TimeLord on shields and short range weapons. We all agreed we needed some training sessions so we plan to do that in the future.

So a few different topics and very interesting it was too.

I did look at videoing the sessions as requested but unfortunately it was impractical without compromising OPSEC. Sorry.

I have enjoyed every one of the NW meets. The core group seems to fit together quite well even if we do have a wide range of skills and experiences. But that is what teamwork is all about.
