Couple of nuggets of information I’ve gathered that I’m passing on. Might be interesting, may not, depending on your interest.
Looks like I will be without broadband for longer than I though. I’m currently tapping into another connection which is intermittent. No problem but I won’t be able to respond rapidly to emails or comments. Bear with me.
Spammers are the bane of my life on the forum. They are taking up most of my time on there. I have no idea why they register and then just sit there. The ones that post get quickly flushed out by the moderators so that isn’t too bad. Akismet which is an Anti-Spam tool used on this site doesn’t do any good on the forum and has in fact banned several legitimate users. So I’ve had to disable it on the forum. If you registered on the forum and were banned by Akismet then let me know and I’ll remove your account from the spam or you can try again with a new user name.
Unemployment has reached a 17 year high in the UK. Sadly, I’m one of those. It means that social costs to the state are high and tax takes are low. So the pressure is on all around. Coupled with everything else the screws are clearly tightening and Cameron’s EU wide slave state takes a step closer.
It seems vitamin pills may cause problems for some older women. After an event we will likely use them to suppliment our diets but longer term we will do without as we grow our own food with the vitamins in. It looks like it may be worth considering taking that step now.
Funny that – I was thinking of buying some Vitamin C supps today. Should eat more citrus fruit but there’s only so much you can stomach.
Askimet I apologise. I didn’t realise how much this tool was doing. When I turned it off I was unindated with spam postings, spammy users and it took me an hour to fix it and remove the spam.
I’ve turned it back on while I have a think about moving forward. In the meantime if your account is nuked by Askimet then drop me an email and I will fix it. I’ll apologise in advance but I can’t leave Askimet off.
Maybe I would have been treated better if I had got its name right. The hard woring Anti Spam software is Akismet although I suspect it wasn’t even bothered about my typo. Post now corrected.
I am also one of those that is currently unemployed. Hopefully not for long though. Things are very very bad, and getting worse. The highest unemployment figures for 17 years? That is shocking. I always used to say that people that don’t work are lazy and that there are jobs available if you want to work. Unfortunately I am now learning that this is not the case.
There are always those that will abuse the system no matter what. Politicians are now getting tough because the money has run out but they will get tough on you and me who will work but can’t get anything. You can bet they won’t get the guy whose entire family has never worked and has 4 kids on his slave labour scheme.
I hope you get a job soon.
Cheers SD. As always if you try to be honest you get screwed over. Good luck with your job hunt.
good luck with the job hunting boys, times are hard every where. but look on the bright side you get to see what life is like for the real unemployed not the lazy people or the ones who say they can’t work but really do for the cash in the hand and that makes you better people for it.
i thought the gov.uk.org.(time wasters) where the ones to use slave labour scheme.
my job is good when things are bad but this time things are really different there is no money around
Grumpy,
I won’t get into it here but the slave state is being rolled out as we speak.
I’m not so sure about no money around. I see it getting spent every day. I think it is just us that don’t have it.
I got a job today. It’s only seasonal and finishes on Christmas Eve but it’s a start.
congrats sc1 on getting that job what ever it is it’s better than nothing
skean
your prob. right the money is getting spent and we have to pay for it
Congrats SC1, you never now where it will lead so good luck and make the most of it.
But at least our kids have something to aim for. Paying off our debt.
Cheers guys.
I fear for my kids. No jobs, unable to buy a house and the country in debt.
i wouldn’t mind my kids paying off the debt but i didn’t waste all the govs money and didn’t bump the banks or any one so i get miffed at that thought but not much i can do about it
Grumpy,
I do. They get nothing from this so why should they pay? There is not much we can do directly but if we all remembered come voting time we could stop it continuing. I’m not holding my breath though. The public are generally thick.
It is such a sad situation many good workers for no fault of their own, unemployed. The damned bankers are still getting big bonuses, I hope they rot in hell. The Supeermarkets are no better, Tesco beans were £1.13 per can on a Monday and on the Friday £1.27 and their profits are still increasing. Billions of pounds spent on the Libyan war and many suffering families. Charity used to begin at home! I feel better for this rant, its now off my chest. Keep struggling on! I hope your lot improves soon. Ken Eames.
I’m currently unemployed myself also.
My wife and I were both working a few years ago, her in a school me as a supervisor..
They were the most frugal and hard times we ever had, from all the job experiences I personally have had they expect you to work like a slave, complain at you when you dont and give you a pittance for it.
I can do most things myself, ive had too because I cant and wont pay some idiot to do a job I can do better and cheaper.
years ago I delivered car service parts to ford.
£30 to ford for the parts £300 to the customer for labour etc…
What a pi** take.
My car for example…the timing belt renault rx4 over £500 at a garage. Ha says I, take your quote and shove it where the sun dont shine.
Bought a new belt off Ebay for £15 fitted it myself.
Learn to do things yourself its a hell of a lot cheaper and your guaranteed a good job because you did it yourseelf.
Mike,
Good luck there. I’m not as practical but it has been an interesting learning experience.
