January Gardening Tasks

OK. It is a bit late but to be honest the delay should not be an issue.

I’m going to make this a seperate web page linked on the top bars so this will probably not be the latest version by the time I’m finished. I’m still collating the many books I have.

Here is January’s tasks for Gardeners.

General Garden Work

  • Clear dead tops and branches from plants
  • Dig over soil to overweather
  • Plant shrubs and trees
  • Apply nitrogenous fertilizer to fruit trees and bushes grown in grass
  • Harvest Parsnips, Swedes, Cabbage, Beet, Chard as needed
  • Prune Apples and Pears
  • Remove any left over fruits or those on ground


  • Wash and clean greenhouse

Indoor Work

  • Plan your years seed choices
  • Plant Herb seeds
