Thinking Ahead – 14

The next in the series to make you think about things up front. Each of you will answer differently and you will all be right, or maybe wrong. It isn’t a sure thing with definitive Yes/No answers. There are no rights and wrongs only something to consider and plan for.

Nick Cleggs prediction has come true. A dirty bomb has been exploded by terrorists at the olympics. A light aircraft apparently full of radioactive medical waste has exploded above the opening ceremony showering all those present with radioactive debris. A great coup for the nutters but a disaster for us. It makes 911 pale in comparison. You are told that although it is low level radiation all in the area are advised to stay indoors until someone can come and get you for processing. Even though the waste is not that radioactive there are still significant health risks for anyone unprotected.

You start to listen to the weather with great interest. You have not bothered with a geiger counter or radiation protection because you always thought a nuclear war was not on the table. You are fully prepped in other ways and you listen with horror as you are made aware that freak weather is picking up the cloud and it is going to settle in your area within the next hour. How can it travel that distance? How much will it cover? It matters nought as it is coming and you need to get ready now. The cloud can already be seen arriving overhead. You have 15 minutes at the most until the debris starts to fall and you start to breathe it.

What are you going to do now?

An awesome sceario but certainly a possibility. Time to act. Search the web for info, there is a great deal of good info, if you look for it. Kenneth Eames

  • Don’t move, stay indoors and if pos seal outer doors and windows. You have food, (a good prepper)wait it out a max of a couple of weeks before you can go out

Seal outer doors and windows with duct tape. Bring in the preps from the shed. Fill the bath with drinking water. Yank the HEPA filter from the dyson and make a vent. Settle down with a stack of DVDs

    Damo,

    Welcome.

I was looking at converting a dyson to a NBC HEPA filter. I’m sure I’ve seen an article on that somewhere. That would be something worth doing now with broken ones.
