For those that don’t know Anto died a few days ago. This post, and the one next week, were submitted and scheduled before he died. Our condolenses go to his family and friends.
I get mine from the pound shop, you get 3 boxes each containing 40mtrs, making 120mtrs for a quid, well worth putting a few packs in your bug out bag as they take up no space & weigh nothing.
If colour is not an issue, using it as sewing thread can be very useful, I used it to mend my black leather duster coat, over a year ago now, I wear it every day and the mend is still good.
It can be used as fishing line, it proved to be as good as any true fishing line, just attach your hook securely and you are good to go. I caught a nice 5lb-7oz carp with it and it held it really well.
I’ve used it to construct a night shelter, you just wrap the floss around the sticks to be bound together 5-6 times in each direction and it will hold as good as string. You can use the floss again if you roll it up carefully when you break camp.
Sterilized it could be used for stitching deep wounds and cuts.
I also use it to bind my crossbow bolts, but that’s a different article.
Well, there are a few practical ways of using dental floss, I’m sure if you ponder it for a while you could add to that list.
It is also good for flossing your teeth I hear!!
