How we need to prepare

An area overlooked by most males when we look at prepping is female sanitary products. We tend to ignore that whole side of things altogether and just let the women look after it. Because women do not tend to be the ones prepping there is the potential that they may not be catered for in this department whilst we prepare for all our events. It is a fact of human nature that these products will be required after an event and we must be including these in with our preparations. Even if you don’t have a lady now there could be one after an event as you become a powerful key player in the future.

Now I’ll admit I’m not an expert in this area but I am aware that at the moment most women use disposable sanitary products. They are usually in the normal shopping but many shop for these items separate from the shopping males go on. Like everything else we can just buy more and store them. We can stock as many of these as we can but as with everything else we can only stock so much. We need to think longer term and to this end we look at reusable and washable products. Products that can be reused time and time again. Two reusable solutions can be found here and here. I’m not recommended these because I have no idea but they were top of my Google search within the UK. Like everything else we can have enough of normal products to see us through the transition with a reusable solution for the longer term. Not forgetting that younger females will grow up and need the same supplies.

In the same way we need to consider nappies. It wasn’t that long ago nappies were washable and were boiled after use. Then came along disposable nappies and washing became the province of eco warriors. Nappies also can be stocked but unless you have a child now there is probably little reason to do so. Stock the washable nappies for your preps. Washable nappies can be found here, here and here. Again, no recommendation but top of Google in the UK.

Now, it isn’t all just reusable pads and nappies. Women and children require more than that. If you don’t have women involved in your prepping to the level of identifying products for your stores then you need to ensure that you identify what they need. You may be able to do without washing your hair for a year but they won’t and having these items will be well worth your while. So don’t forget to stock;

  • Brushes
  • Nail clippers
  • Razor blades
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Moisturiser
  • Bobbles
  • Face cloths
  • Sanitary towels or tampons
  • Reusable towels
  • Knickers
  • Tights

And not forgetting

  • 2 million toilet rolls (I suspect that many women eat it. I have no other explanation for usage)

For babies stock;

  • Reusable nappies
  • Measuring spoons
  • Bottles
  • Milk powder
  • Baby clothes

These are just minimums. Get a full list from the females in your groups. I’m just listing these to make you aware that these items exist and you need to cover them in the preps.

Ensure that any items identified go on the shopping list.
