How we need to prepare

Had our bow and arrow meet today. Very few people turned up but that was fine because it gave us a lot of individual target time.

First up with the straight bows. That went OK and although none of us were experts we hit the target more often than not. Same with the compond bow although one arrow disappeared into thin air and just couldn’t be found.

Then we went on to my latest crossbow. Wow. If you don’t have one you should get one. They put the bolts all the way through the target. We tried some hunting broadheads with the crossbow and they devasted the target. My suggesting to you is get some of these and a crossbow before they are banned or registered. They were devastating.

TimeLord demonstrated his latest multi purpose tool which comprised sharp edges, saw blades, pry bars and a very nice carry case with built in saw blades. Very nice it was too. He spends a lot of time on his home made tools and it shows. I wish I was as good with tools as he is.

Next up he demonstrated his Atlatl and it made a very impressive weapon. I couldn’t get the hang of it but TL and his friend, who has previous experience, were doing OK. Although all of us needed to practise a bit more. TL is going to make a smaller version for tactical use. A project I am interested in.

We also played with a boomerang but that didn’t go so well. The general public would have called it a stick and it’s use involved a lot of walking.

Finally, we looked at a catapult. We didn’t do anything with it though because we didn’t want to lose all the ammunition. We discussed it and think we are best doing that in our home with a blanket at the back rather than outside.

All in all it was a good day. No rain and little wind. We had a very interesting and enjoyable time and it worked out being a good day.

I am so pleased that all went well. Its very sad when events are unsuccessful. Maybe, Timelord could start a successful busines making tools, etc., for other folk. At sometime in the future I might be able to make it to an event. Well done. Kenneth Eames.

Ken, Exactly what I suggested to him yesterday. He believes it would be too expensive to make to his high standards but I think it must be worth investigating. Over to you TL.

Sounds like fun. What’s your latest crossbow?

TL, You should consider making tools for preppers. I would expect that your tools would be more costly. I see other sites where things are made for people and cost more. Quality demands a higher price. Such tools are made better than that produced by mass production. Maybe in the Selling section you might advertise your skills. Kenneth Eames.

I think it looks good. May even get one myself. After the results with my crossbow I have been thinking a lot about their uses in a survival situation. An article is coming up about them.

I have the Boomslang Recon avoid it at all costs.
